I can’t believe it’s already August! It won’t be long now until Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas time.
So, what’s new? We have acquired a couple of outdoor fans to help circulate the air and keep mosquitos at bay. Though I’ll probably spray for the bugs if they get too aggressive. I’m thinking that this weekend will be a dry run in that we’ll get the tables and chairs all set up, the fans going, the wall mounted demo board hung, and the boards setup. We’ll play some games too, don’t worry!
Also, since playing on the large board with big pieces in Galveston about a week ago, I’m mulling over investing in the pieces and building an outdoor board out of brick or tile. Oh, and maybe having a banner made to hang up too. Something the club could bring along to away tournaments.
I was also thinking about a little sign or QR code to put by Gus (our Gorilla mascot). All sorts of folks come by for pictures when we decorate the 2000+ lbs concrete Gorilla 🦍 for various holidays and events. Maybe they’ll play a game or two. Maybe it’ll be you.
