The Goose Island Gambit is an exciting chess tournament open to players of all levels. Whether you’re a seasoned chess master or just getting started, this event is the perfect opportunity to showcase your skills, meet fellow chess enthusiasts, and enjoy the great outdoors.
Set in the scenic Goose Island State Park, with its sprawling oak trees, coastal views, and serene environment, the tournament provides a unique atmosphere you won’t find in typical chess halls. Watch life-sized chess games unfold against the backdrop of nature, with kayaks gliding across the water and birds soaring overhead.
Event Details
- Date: November 2, 2024
- Location: Goose Island State Park, Rockport, Texas
- Time: Check-in begins at 9:00 AM; the tournament starts promptly at 10:00 AM.
- Who Can Play: Open to all ages and skill levels.
- Entry Fee: $10 per player (does NOT include park admission, which is around $5).
- Format: Swiss-system, 5 rounds, 30 minutes per side, 5 second delay. G30;d5
