♟️🏆 What a great day of chess in Rockport!

The Coastal Bend Fall Scholastic & Open is in the books!

It was fantastic seeing players of different ages and skill levels come together for a full day of competitive chess. There were some great games, hard-fought battles, and plenty of good sportsmanship along the way.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, the parents and families who came out to support their players, and the Aransas County 4-H program and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office for helping make this event possible. 4-H Clubs of Aransas County - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension

This tournament was about more than just wins, losses, and trophies. It’s about building opportunities for competitive chess right here in the Coastal Bend, and today was another step toward that goal.

Congratulations to all our award winners, and thank you to every player who sat down at a board today. You’re the reason we do this!

We’ve got more tournaments ahead, and I hope to see everyone back at the boards soon.

Until next time, keep playing chess! ♟️

♟️🏆 A Top 100 National Ranking!

Third Coast Chess is proud to congratulate Lincoln Samples on earning a place among the Top 100 chess players in the nation for his age!

In the October 2026 US Chess rankings, Lincoln is ranked:

🇺🇸 #82 – Age 15

This is a tremendous milestone and a testament to the countless hours of study, practice, and tournament competition that go into becoming a stronger chess player.

Lincoln’s accomplishment is also a reminder of what’s possible for young chess players right here in the Coastal Bend.

Congratulations, Lincoln! Well earned! ♟️
